Each resident of Grove Park Home may have the opportunity to be attended to by one of our Nurse Practitioners. The Home is fortunate to employ 2 Nurse Practitioners. We have one full time and one part-time professional.
- Is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).
- Has a graduate-level university education as a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner.
- Is licensed by the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse with Extended Class (RN-EC) and is therefore authorized to diagnose and order specific medications, lab tests, and x-rays.
- Has advanced knowledge and decision making skills in assessment, diagnosis and health care management.
As a member of Grove Park Home's health care team, the Nurse Practitioner provides care to our residents by:
- Diagnosing and treating illness and/or injuries
- Performing annual medicals
- Prescribing medications
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests
- Monitoring/managing chronic illnesses
- Participating on the wound care team
- Collaborating and consulting with other health team members
